SEVEN NIGHTS OF COLLABORATIVE MUSIC AND VISUAL ART

#AFROSTYDAWN

A Frosty Dawn,a spectacular new event for Dublin City Centre this month - A Frosty Dawn is a series of seven very special shows in the iconic Pepper Canister Church on Mount Street Crescent, Dublin 2.

The title A FROSTY DAWN  is taken from Patrick Kavanagh’s poem 'A Christmas Childhood’ and aims to evoke images of what this time of year means to people and how it brings people closer to their loved ones.

Patrick Kavanagh is of course immortalised in bronze a couple of hundred yards up the canal from the Pepper Canister, very close to where he wrote the poem in 1940

Each curated show will breathe back life into this magnificent jewel in the heart of Georgian Dublin. The Pepper Canister Church has been of course closed for performances for most of the last 21 months, perhaps the most silent period of its 197-year history.

Renowned for its incredible acoustics, the 19th century church will also provide the most incredible acoustic experience for each of the performances taking place on the steps of the domed alter. As the sounds resonate naturally around the huge dome, concert goers will be treated to a bird’s eye view from the old oak pews where the congregation would have sat in yester years. The bespoke light show for each gig, will compound this near spiritual experience for music lovers.

The return to live music in the majestic Pepper Canister Church, an intimate and memorable location for the very Frosty Dawn, make this an unmissable series of winter gigs – something we have all yearned for over the last years.

The bespoke light show for each gig, will compound this near spiritual experience for music lovers.

A spectacular lighting and visual art installation will be projected on the Pepper Cannister illuminating the old Georgian street, heralding the start of the week-long series of gigs from 4.30pm-10.30pm.
